Australia's spectacular Northern Territory, ranging from thearid desert centre to the tropical coast, is home to a vast array of wildlife, including 400 species of birds, 150 species of mammals and over 300 species of reptiles.

Here, in one of the most extraordinary landscapes on the planet, is a unique non-profit organisation called Wildlife Rescue Darwin. The facility cares for thousands of sick, injured and orphaned animals every year. The ultimate aim: to rehabilitate the animals and release them back into their natural habitat.

Articulate, energetic, passionate and knowledgeable, Lisa Hansen is the charity's coordinator. Guardian Angel Lisa cares for thousands of injured animals every year, helped by a team of dedicated heroes including young snake catcher David 'Reedy' Reed, fearless crocodile hunter Tom Nichols and skilled veterinary surgeon Dr Stephen Cutter.

On-call 24 hours a day, a mission can see the team anywhere at any time, whether it's flying via light aircraft to Kakadu for a jabiru, bottle-feeding orphaned baby kangaroos, repairing a turtle's shell with fiberglass or living in a menagerie of toxic serpants.

Each episode contains interweaving stories: a mix of surgical cases plus thrilling crocodile patrols and snake rescues - delicate and complex surgical procedures contrasting with the ruggedness and isolation of the bust. Every ending is wrapped in heartfelt emotion, as healed animals are returned to the wild.
